At 0824hrs, Stations 49 & 6 were dispatched to Shadybrooke Drive for a gas line that was struck by a contractor installing a fire hydrant.  Crews from 49 & 6 stood by until UGI was able to safely cap the leak.  As a precaution there were a few residences and businesses that were evacuated.  However, the weather was a cooperating factor and due to the wind direction, a majority of the gas was being vented in the direction of an empty field.  Therefore, the evacuations were very limited.  We would like to thank Amity Township PD for assisting with notifications and evacuations which allowed us to remain on scene to provide protective services.
